Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1795.

Mahogany tall-case clock. The hood has a molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved rosettes, and with a carved central cartouche of a basket of fruit and flowers. There are dentil moldings in the pediment, blind fretwork, applied carved foliage in the tympanum, and a molded arch above the door, free-standing fluted columns at the front corners, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove molding, dentil molding, blind fretwork above the case door, fluted-quarter columns at the front corners, and a case door with an astragal top. Base with ogee molding at the top. Base section with applied ovolo molding, arranged to give the appearance of a base panel with concave corners, and supported on ogee bracket feet. Engraved brass dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, engraved scrolls in the spandrels, engraved image of a rooster in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring, there is an engraved seconds dial, a calendar aperture, and the signature "Benj Clarke Philadelphia." Eight day movement.
